Festival Volunteers

Many of the over 500 Regina Folk Festival volunteers return to help year after year to allow this festival to live and breathe. We pride ourselves as having the friendliest, most helpful and knowledgeable volunteers around!

June 2009
Hello eager Volunteers!!!
Recruitment is in full swing!! That means that you should sign up now if you want to be on your first pick team!! There is still room on all the teams listed on the application, but spots are quickly filling up. Just so you know, our Sweet Volunteer T-Shirt ordering deadline is also coming around the corner! So, to ensure you get yours in a fit you like...sign up NOW to be a Volunteer!! - xoxo Jasinta

How the sign-up process works:
Once you fill out and submit the volunteer application form, it is emailed directly to me. I will notify you that I have received it and enter all of your information into our volunteer spreadsheet. As requests for volunteers come in from our area coordinators I supply them with names from the spreadsheet, according to the volunteer's schedule and preferences. I try to accommodate your requests as much as possible, but I cannot guarantee that you will be placed in a certain area. Your placement depends on how many returning volunteers a coordinator has, and also when you apply, as placement is on a first come first serve basis. Because of this it is important to have an open mind when you apply.

Things to know about volunteering:
- Volunteers are expected to work 12 hours, and are given a free festival t-shirt, free admission to the evening concerts as well as the Sunday volunteer after-party.
- For most areas, shifts are 4 or 6 hours long
- There are volunteer training sessions in July to help get you prepared and comfortable with your job. You will also receive a volunteer manual with loads of important volunteer related information.
- It is VERY important to respond as quickly as possible to any volunteer related emails so that I can get you placed as soon as possible, or let me know if you will be out of town/unavailable for a while.
- Once you have put in your 12 hours to the festival, you are entitled to membership status with the RFF Inc. for one year. This allows you to vote at the RFF AGM.

Returning volunteers: If you are returning to the same area as previous year, your Coordinator will be contacting you soon. You will be receiving from your Coordinator the Returning Volunteer Form. The information you put on it will go directly in a spreadsheet. When you fill out the form you will be put in a draw for a chance to win some fabulous prizes. Also, if you have any information/tips that you think are important to inform new volunteers about, let me know and I will try to post them!

If you have any questions about volunteering please don't hesitate to contact me. I can be reached by email at volunteer@reginafolkfestival.com or by phone at (306) 757-0308.

Thank You!
