Enjoy the 40th edition of Regina's favorite festival of music, art and culture!!!

Performances during the day Saturday and Sunday are held on one of our four stages (3 Sunlit Stages and the Children's stage) where festival performers are presented in thematic concerts and workshops resulting in very intimate performances. These stages are accessible for free from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. There is also a family area that offers music, dance and activities for children plus an artists' market and an international food court.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings the ticketed festival main stage features 15 full length performances and 10 short sets by stellar acts from all over the world. Our outdoor stage has amazing sound and is located in a breathtaking and intimate setting in the heart of downtown Regina.

Safety & Security

The Regina Folk Festival brings the meaning of celebration to a whole new level! Audience members are able to enjoy and discover amazing music from a diverse selection of genres each year. With a great mix of headliners and emerging talent, and increase in festival programming, audience sizes have increased over the years and more volunteers and artisans are involved than ever before! This is good news for the city of Regina and the Regina Folk Festival. The increasing interest and participation translates into longer-term sustainability of Western Canada's longest-running music festival.

The Regina Folk Festival works hard to keep up with the demands and interests of everyone involved. However, there are hurdles. As such, feedback has been incredibly important to us - after all, we are a festival devoted to our community. The RFF maintains a vision of an intimate and high-quality arts event. We are committed to the further development of strategies to accommodate our increasingly mixed demographics to ensure the safety and security of everyone attending the downtown event.

There has been extensive discussion about the front-of-stage area both at the board level and by the staff. The result is a main stage plan that allows for a better balance of seated and front-of-stage viewing. The board and staff of the RFF Inc. are dedicated to audience and artist interaction while ensuring the enjoyment and safety of all those who attend the festival. The festival is well-known by artists for the ability to interact with a standing and dancing audience up close and personal. This up close and personal interaction feeds energy into an artists' performance and increases the quality and energy that the performer is able to give back to the audience. At the same time we want our seated audience members to be able to enjoy the performers and thus have taken steps to allow for larger areas for seating with good sightlines.

* The Folk Fest promotes both dancing and standing in front of the stage.

* A walkway is placed behind the dancing/standing area. The distance between the sitting area and the stage has been measured to ensure an angle that will allow people seated in the sitting area to be able to see the performers clearly. This walkway is kept clear for several reasons: firstly, to avoid congestion, secondly to maintain clear sight lines for the seated audience, and lastly for security and safety reasons, to ensure that people are able to travel back and forth safely from one side of the main stage area to the other.

* The main stage area has been mapped out into sections to accommodate blanket/ground seating as well as low-riding and high-riding lawn chairs. This has been done to maintain good sightlines for everyone. In order to preserve the integrity of the sections and keep them working efficiently, the festival ambassador team is on hand to assist people to seat themselves in an appropriate area. There are also festival seating maps in the program and on site to be used for reference.

* The standing/dancing area can also be used to sit in temporarily, but anyone sitting there needs to know that they will likely be required to move or stand up at some point (eg. no blankets or lawn chairs, etc.).

* Areas are mapped to accommodate blankets and both low-riding and high-riding lawn chairs to ensure better sightlines.

* We are open to suggestions for the future. If people have suggestions or comments, please direct them to our SURVEY CREW or fill out a comment card at the INFO BOOTH.

50/50 Sales:
Tickets for the 50/50 draw will be sold all weekend and the draw will take place Sunday night. Look for the 50/50 volunteers with their aprons and be sure to pick up your tickets for a chance to win some cold hard cash!

Stay tuned to our website and program guide for further updates on our improvements to the festival. We look forward to celebrating music, community and our 40th year with you at the 2009 Regina Folk Festival!
