June 2, 2009...Announcing the 2009 RFF GLOBAL ELECTRONICA & REMIX 40 PROJECTS
To help celebrate their 40th year, the RFF will introduce the audience to a relatively new art form through a project called GLOBAL ELECTRONICA. It will feature live performances by four culturally and stylistically diverse electronic-based artists from across the country. Most of the artists involved meld live music with pre-recorded samples and utilize both electronic and acoustic instruments to create a whole new experience. In conjunction with GLOBAL ELECTRONICA, another project called REMIX 40 will take place. REMIX 40 will give the audience the opportunity to discover new music while reliving moments from past festivals. The same four artists featured in the GLOBAL ELECTRONICA project will take samples of live festival recordings over the past 40 years and inject their own styles to create a new sound. The artists chosen for the GLOBAL ELECTRONICA & REMIX 40 projects are:
No Luck Club (BC) Lal (ON) Socalled (QB) Delhi 2 Dublin (BC)
The GLOBAL ELECTRONICA & REMIX 40 projects will provide a variety of diverse cultures and styles, a mix of electronic and acoustic sounds and a combination of live music and samples. It will allow the RFF to honour and past and also celebrate the present and the future.
Funded by the Canada Council for the Arts Music Festival Programming Project Grant.
